how do you know when you are an "intermediate" or "advanced" bass player? i'd like to know if i am any good at playing bass before i even think about auditioning for a band.

i've been reading treble clef for 6 years (clarinet) and recently started learning bass clef and i know how to play tabs (usually bands like system of a down, billy talent, and a few others).

how can i know if i am good though?

First of all, congratulations on picking up the bass! We are indeed the glue that holds the band together... ;)

You are always better than someone...and there's always someone better than you. I'd invite some guitar players over to jam and see what happens... There's ALWAYS someone out there that is close enough to your skill level that WANTS TO PLAY WITH YOU!

Don't give up, don't worry, just go out and PLAY!

Peace!
