As a teacher :D

This is actually a pretty great story.

I went to a "YES" (Youth Empowerment Seminar) course over the weekend, because I was interested in getting to know myself better. We spent most of the time there meditating and doing exercises meant to reduce shyness and stuff, and it was all good.

So I thought "Hey, I'm meeting lots of people here," and I felt really proud of myself for doing something so out of the ordinary.

THEN, I met another bass player I've talked with before, and he asked me whether I'd like to teach some of his students the following Monday, as he was playing at some sort of music college and couldn't make the lessons.

So I thought, "Hey, I'm helping this guy out, I'm making money, and if it goes south I'll probably not meet those kids again any time soon."

Now the first guy showed up, we talked a bit and I showed him how to play "Take the Power Back" by Rage Against the Machine, something I think he thought was pretty fun.

I also showed the next guy who showed up how to play that song, and he got it down pretty fast as well.

Roll on the third student, and I thought I'd have to find something else for this guy to play and I showed him "Ramble On" by Led Zeppelin (the first song I learned with my first bass teacher).

Now the last student was a girl who was more stubborn than a mule. I asked her "What did you guys do last lesson?" and she told me they went through "One Time" by King Crimson. She showed it to me (I've never heard the song), and told me that she wanted a challenge. "OK, have it your way," I thought, wanting to see if she was up for it.

I played "Larks' Tongues in Aspic, pt 2" for her, and spent about 30 minutes going over the first bar (again and again) until finally she made up some kind of system and managed to remember it.

As we were going through the rest of the intro, she suddenly stopped and said "Hey, aren't I supposed to be finished about now?" and we found out she had been staying 25 minutes past her regular time. As expected, she panicked, and left in a hurry.

tl;dr version:

I met this guy, who offered me a one-time job, and I accepted, hopefully taught some people some things, and made some money.
