I'm looking for a bass for under $600 with wider string spacing. Something similiar to a Warwick or Ken Smith. I think they are like 18mm at the bridge. Please let me know if you know of any

There are many basses with string spacing wider than 18mm. Give us a call toll free at 866.751.3220 and we can talk about your options.

Thanks!

Look for a used MTD Saratoga or Grendel 5. Usually they go for anywhere between 650 and $750. A little more than you want to spend but a really nice bass. I have a Grendel 5 with a maple neck and can't imagine ever getting rid of it.

Yamaha makes some fairly inexpensive 5 strings. I have one I bought a few years back and the neck is a full 3 inches at the 24th fret. I dont know how I played it. Im so used to my Ibanez 5's. They are anorexic compared to the Yamaha if they keep it up the will be just extra long baritone guitars.... I believe the Fenders are a bit wider, Id love the 5 string P bass but to me it feels like Im trying to play a tree. That was a sad day for me. Good luck with the hunt....

Ive got an aria JBDX5 bass? just wanna warn anyone lookin for a five string to watch out for this one. Neck is way too thick and the electronics (active) arent any good. I bought it for a first foray into playing fives, and was fairly affordable, about 200 quid, which is 400 dollars? yeh so just be wary of fives, can get some bad 'uns :(

yamaha rbx 375
very nice bass, good sounding (growl if you want, crisp high end if you want), active 2band EQ, 18mm string spacing (not too much for a 5string, but enough do be able to slap the **** out of it), good ballance, light weight, and it is SO cheap !

alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard (it is either finished or polished).

and it is well made, the frets are not sticking out or something like that.

i can only recommend it !

I too bought a Yamaha RBX375. I love this bass. It "dings" pretty easy, but then again, it only cost me $400. Killer sound through my EBS MicroBassII. Real comfortable to play.

I have the 2008 Jazz bass 5 that has great wide spacing. I traded a MM Stingray 5 that was too narrow for my gorilla hands. I traded a Carvin BB 75 that had a nice wide neck.
