I have a nice 78/79 Japanese P Bass that I would like to put some TLC to (it was my first Bass). I would like to change out the bridge and pickups. I do have a bit of experience ... I put together a Carvin 4 string fretless this summer and I have a lot of wood finish experience (made a living for many years restoring art objects). I need some advice on the type of pickups and bridge that I might use to replace what I have ... I will be using this Bass for a big Reggae sound

Thanks in advance
Gary

I wouldn't bother much with the bridge if it's a sonic difference you want. Pickups though can make a big difference. And don't forget strings.

You might want to try the Basslines series of pickups. The "hot" version for P bass has a lot of lows and you can roll off the top end to your choosing. I use the Quarter Pounder myself and love it with my bass. I also use flatwound strings.

You'll get lots of different opinions on this I'm sure and in the end have to decide for yourself.

My P bass is a '78, by the way.
