VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : OMG moment!!!
Banana_phone 01-12-2009, 12:36 AM Here I was, bored at work. Decided to entretain myself I tried to play some air bass to the mental sound a new trashy (not like crappy, more like big hair head bang trashy) song the guys I play with composed 2 days ago. I quickly got frustraded because I couldnīt find the correct pitch for the notes, BUT THEN, I was struck by the genious idea of using my cell phone composer as a pitch pype!!!
Unfortunately, the battery died and I donīt have a charger in here...:spit:
Maybe this is probably in the wrong place, but I always wanted to get a pitch pipe (never actually got it because they donīt sell those arround here, and paying 15 on transportation for a 7-8 thing is just lame) and now I have one, I always did!:p
I, am enlightened...;)
ErebusBass 01-12-2009, 12:41 AM You know, your bass works just like a pitch pipe if it's in tune...
Banana_phone 01-12-2009, 12:52 AM You know, your bass works just like a pitch pipe if it's in tune...
Yeah, I suppose I could blow some air into it and then put it in my pocket...:hiding:
I know I sounded over enthusiastic in the heat of the moment, it has been a real pain in the ar*s to be at work without some kind of pitch reference for sorting things out. I guess I could use the computer, but this piece of crap computer sound card isnīt working.
PS: Yeah, Iīve got loads of free time at work, in case your wondering... lol
buchananbass 01-12-2009, 01:01 AM Dial tone is in the key of A
Banana_phone 01-12-2009, 01:12 AM The modern dial tone varies between countries, being a "buzz" of two interfering tones (350 Hz and 440 Hz, as defined in the Precise Tone Plan) in the NANP (most of North America), and a constant single tone (425 Hz) in most of Europe.
Zombbg4 01-12-2009, 01:17 AM A tuning fork is also useful.
I know a trumpet player who only uses a tuning fork and is always dead on intune.
Johnny Mack 01-12-2009, 05:17 AM i think an empty beer bottle is B

Jake of Bass 01-13-2009, 01:52 PM i think an empty beer bottle is B
B standing for BEER, right?
Johnny Mack 01-13-2009, 01:58 PM no, im serious, either B or Bb. and i think a dial tone is A.
Jake of Bass 01-13-2009, 02:10 PM I think it's already been established that a dial tone isn't A.
troy mcclure 01-13-2009, 02:39 PM Ummmmmmm didn't u say this was "air" bass? Does it really matter what key the song in your head was in???
Exactly.... esides there is a whole bunch of online tuners even if the computer sucks, you could get a reference.
BTW, can you play everything you can hear, imagine and fake on air bass?..if you can you are way better than me.
alexei 01-13-2009, 04:08 PM make MP3's of your fave pitches and put them in your phone......
