Sure, I think that's a lot better than just moving them up one fret.

Play through every scale in the circle of fourths, going in the order of the circle of fourths. So, in terms of diatonic scales, if you were to start playing the A Major scale, you would play through it (the pattern you play it depends on you though) and then move to the next scale in the circle, D Major.

The same goes for non-diatonic scales. Just figure out their order in the circle of fourths and then play each scale in that order.
