So, I bought a Mexican Fender J Bass. I love it.

Believe it or not, I actually dig the action on it as is, from the factory. I like a little high action so I can "dig in" a bit on the strings.

However, it came with some 110 gauge strings.... they sound great, but I cant make them do much as far as playing precise and quickly. Would anyone suggest going down to 105, perhaps?

It wouldn't hurt to swap to a thinner set, give them a try... If it doesn't work out, you can always stick the 110's back on :)

I found that a set of 105's were just too thick for me on my P-bass, so I went down to 100's and have no problems now. They sound a bit quieter in my opinion / experience, but still sound killer :)
