Hello, i have ben tasked with creating a "feelgood" bassline for a song and honestly i'm writing for any advise you guys might be able to provide.

The song is intended to be a ska song so just wondering if you have any tip to help me find the sound i want :D

Thanks for reading :)

playing straight quarter notes on the offbeat always makes me happy.

Songs with a lot of maj7 in the intro like Every Kind of People (Robert Palmer) and What's Going On (Marvin Gaye) combined with liberal use of of the V and VI (from the root- hope this isn't inaccurate) in the bassline have always been "feel good" songs to me. Taking that approach (if the song you're writing for allows you the oportunity) might not result in the most original line at first, but it's a starting point.

EDIT: I see this is post #1000 for me. Wooooooo!

Playing in Major keys would be an obvious way to help create a feelgood bass line
