What does anyone here think of John Lodge, the bassist from the Moody Blues. PBS was airing a concert with them playing along with a full orchestra and they were great. I have never been a huge Moody Blues fan, but I was very impressed. Once you get past alot of their more radio friendly songs thier music gets alot more interesting with some very well written bass lines.

I watched that concert yesterday too. Did you happen to notice that the bass you were hearing was NOT John Lodge?

On several occasions he raised his hands above his head to clap with the crowd and the bassline continued unabated.

During one ballad where he sings the lead, the bass line you could hear was a fretless doing all this slidy stuff, but Lodge was playing a fretted Fender Jazz Deluxe with a pick... it was obvious to me that he was "pick-syncing" the part.

So, they either had a bassist offstage playing the parts, or the parts were recorded and played back during the concert.

Personally, I thought it sucked. Can't Lodge play anymore?
