For sale is my blond American Standard #1194 that I have owned for nearly 25 years. Reliable sources date it as a 1940, but there have been discrepancies about dating these pre-war basses, so you can date it for yourself. I am asking $2500, but will entertain all offers. I am going to sell this bass to someone. Please e-mail me at robertallen2@comcast.net for details, history, and pictures.

I haven't looked at the pics, but I own an American Standard from the same time period and it's about the best sounding ply I've ever heard. Sure, it probably has a 43" scale length and slightly shallow overstand but I imagine that these aren't big issues to many players and bottom line is that the sound is pretty darned good- especially for a ply bass. If it's in good shape, this is an incredible deal. Or you could spend over $4,000 on a New Standard copy... Somebody buy this before I buy it just to have a backup!
