I have a 1997 Fender American-Standard Fretless P-Bass. This was my test run with a Lined-fretless. I like the feel, but I like the feel of frets better. Thats why i'm getting rid of her and starting my journey to find the "perfect bass". I am just wondering if I could get some help on where to go from here.

If you liked the feel of the bass, try a Fretted Fender American Standard Precision. I love my 2008 model.

I do love P-Basses, and the sound is great. But when I play with my band, I feel like im drowned out a little bit.

Hey, I know what you mean, I have tried every bass under the sun, fretless and fretted Warwick streamer fretless to Aria Pro II fretted and Steinberger semi hollow fretless, Jackson fretted, and many more. Amps too... I currently have a fretted jazz bass but I must admit I miss the power of active pick ups. I put EMGs in my Aria Pro II (odd I know but I love the neck and fingerboard) and the signal you get from it just seems to be the difference between feeling like you are being a bit trampled over and feeling quite comfortable. I personally think its better to tweak one instrument than keep buying different ones, from my experience. They all have good points and can all be customised a bit to really suit us. I am still considering putting EMGs in my jazz bass, its made in Mexico and really sounds very good (considering!) but the input on my amp has gone up about 20%, the output down by about 10% and the bottom string doesnt have the option for a really warm big round smooth sound, I play 5 string and do miss the trouser flapping I must admit...
If you do prefer fretted bass and are aiming to get one, perhaps go for one with EMGs or a good copy (active pick ups, one way or the other) and try that with your band, or a graphic eq pedal can help you get your sound to cut through a bit more, if you get a bass you like that has passive pick ups and want to try tweaking your sound a bit without surgery!

I would Reccomend The Yamaha TRB 1004 4-string electric bass. its got a nice, comftorble feel to it. its got a 3-band EQ. really good nice thick and rich tone. and its really a looker!

Fender Jaguar Bass Guitar. It's a Fender, MIJ, active electronics, loud as hell, bassy, trebly, whatever you want in between, it can sound like a Jazz, can sound like a P, an indefinite number of sounds. Fast neck, very playable. I love mine.
