We just received our first Hiwatt DR-201 all tube bass head, and it sounds awesome. It's rated at 200 watts, but I couldn't imagine needing anything more. I played it through a 4 ohm Bergantino 410 cab and it literally shook the walls at 1/3 volume. We also purchased these at a great price, so we're pleased to offer the Hiwatt DR-201 at $2999, normally a $5399 list That's the lowest advertised price by far, that we've seen it anyplace else. Had a chance to put the DR-201 thru it's paces yesterday. This thing is fat! The KT88's make the tone as big as Texas, and every note I played was full bodied. Even my scuffs sounded full. The presence knob also added some crisp on the top, so the definition wasn't lost at all. As for power, I play with a slammin' drummer, and Marshall half-stack guitar player and the Hiwatt was the loudest thing in the room. The singer commented that we needed a louder PA for him to keep up with us. I was also impressed with the amazing sustain I got. The notes ring forever. Lastly, I LOVED the fact that I could FEEL everything I played. The Hiwatt pumped through 2-410's, and I could feel it pound my chest. I can't wait to play this thing through a 212 or 115 cab bottom. I think I've found my newest gigging head.
