Im looking for a Steely Dan book with bass clef or tabs or both... doesnt matter just want to learn some steely dan. I dont know if there are any steely dan bass books but maybe you guys have ran upon some.

Did some google searchs all i came up with were what looked like song books. Is the bass cleft in song books usually match what the bassist is playing or is it for piano?

song books confuse me...if it doesnt say authentic transcriptions, note for note,or score,you get an arrangement with the melody,and chords,but not much else......there is some steely dan out there in guitar/bass rags,if you can find the back issues..bodhistatva,reelin......,peg, kid ch.......to name a few......try also chuck rainey maybe.......

This is part of the TRANSCRIBED SCORES series. If you're unfamilar with this brand...it has bass, guitar, drums, horns, keys, vocals, etc charted out.
The books on Chicago (Vols 1 & 2), Santana, Tribal Tech (yes, Tribal Tech), Gary Willis/Scott Henderson, etc are great.
I have the 1st Edition Steely Dan. It's not that bad..."Kid Charlemagne" is nowhere near close (a 'sample' bass figure/rhythm is all you get for the verses).
Worth having, IMO.

I have seen balls-on transcriptions of "Peg" online & in Bass Player mag. "Kid Charlemagne" may have been in Bass Player, too.
There was a note-for-note transcription of "Glamour Profession" online...cannot recall the URL. This tune is a lesson in crossing the barline rhythms.
Some books I own have note-for-note transcriptions of "FM" and some stuff from Fagen's 1st solo album: "IGY", "New Fontier", & "Green Flower Street".

Can you let me know the exact titles of the Scott Henderon/Tribal Tech books in this series? I've done a Google and Amazon search, the only one i can find is the Scott Henderson Artist Transcription book (which also has Gary's basslines)....

These are the two I have (IIRC)...I don't think there is a third one. My bad.
Both, IIRC, are full of Tribal Tech tunes.
There are also Tribal Tech tunes in the Sher Real Books (w/ the bass parts).
I recall breaking my fingers just trying to play Willis' GROOVES out if the "Best of Scott Henderson" book.

There are a lot of Steely Dan midi files out there and a lot are pretty accurate. You can look at the bass lines if you have the software to view the midi file.
