I love my Lakland 55-94 to death and it is by far the best bass I've ever owned. The only thing I'd like to change is to be able to adjust the bass/mid/treble or have a tone adjust knob when the volume knob is pulled and the bass in passive mode. Does anybody out there know of preamp to get me that flexibility? I'd love to be able to have a bass that was flexible tone wise in both active and passive modes.

There are several people on this board with Lakland electronics that have a tone control on their bass. Do a search.

Here's one example

Holla at Brian Barrett at www.thelowend .net. His LEJ tone knob will work in passive mode.

If you don't mind either drilling another hole or replacing the volume pot with a stacked volume/tone pot, you could probably just add a passive tone control to the bass, similar to what Fodera does.

Ooops, I meant to add that if you really want to swap out the electronics, the Glockenklang EQ will give you a passive-type tone control in passive mode. However, if you just add a passive tone control to your existing setup, you could use it in both passive and active mode...

Audere or U-Retro pre's could give you those features and more. That said, I wouldn't take the LH3 out of my Lakland's for anything.
