been lurking around here and the bass for awhile. I've been playing with other musicians trying to get a band going for years but it hasn't worked out for an increasing number of reasons.

I've started to think that the only way to find an answer is to improve on bass, and learn more songs and different styles so that i'm up to chop when i find a real opportunity.

I'm sure i could request some cover set lists and some of the pros up in here could give me some suggestions on intermediate songs that are covered frequently? i can play just about anything, but i'm looking for some easy stuff that doesn't take a month for me to get down

PM'd my cover band's setlist. I'll let you weed out the ones that you think would be too challenging.

determine your target audience and THEN create your set list.

Kids - newer thrash/metal
Bikers - metal/skynard/etc
Decent bar - Classic rock
Nice bar - Jazz/funk

you get the picture

definately going classic rock, i already knew that, but i'd like to have some variety with some more poppy tunes that i don't really listen to on my own, but go over well in bars.

this is what i've been working on....

paranoid
nib
enter sandman
eye of the tiger
aces high
the trooper
ain't talking bout love
all along the watchtower
cat scratch fever

but now i'm starting to wonder... do people cover these songs that often?

I would say yes to most, I certainly have done all of these, except Cat Scratch Fever, which I'm going to add to our set now thanks.
