Hello,
First post, title says it. I am looking to get some fretwork done and was wondering if anyone here had experience with anybody in the Gainesville/Ocala area. I am willing to drive upto an hour for quality work. Let the recomendations and stories begin (hopefully).

Maybe you should call Bass Central in Orlando and see what they say? I know Gainsville is north of Orlando, but I don't remember how far--been several years since I drove it.

Thanks ByF, Bass Central is the only place nearby that I know of (and feel I can trust). But, depending on traffic, it can take upto two hours to get there. I am also afraid of going there and somehow justifying buying a new bass.

I know it hasn't been that long, but i figured I would bump. By the way, Gainesville/Ocala is in north-central Florida.

Ok, one more bump before I go practice. I hope at least one bassist from my area is hanging out right about now.

OK, so I feel my first dozen posts will just be bumps. I know of places in town to get this type of work done. What I need is people's experiences. Have you had work done in this area, and what was your experience?

Hey... what kind of bass is it. There are a couple good luthiers her in jacksonville.

Thankyou for chipping in Floridabwoy, the bass in question is a Spector Rebob recently purchased off ebay. The bass arrived with some problems. The back of the neck had some raised grain and the playing side had some buzzing. Did a refinish (after waiting four weeks while the wood adjusted to florida weather, Tru-oil job, like most of my basses, worked out great) but I had to raise the action because of some buzzing around the 14th fret (A and D strings). I don't have the tools (or time) to do the fretwork. I was considering investing in the tools and do it myself, but I don't have the time. Thats one reason why I am looking for a place near by.
