Howdy,
Looking for a nice DB to play. I got rid of mine when I moved here. Hopefully a good student level instrument.
Not really looking for asian imports. I'm located in NYC. Can't really travel far as my truck is shot and needs a new transmission.
I've got a couple of nice electrics that I'd be willing to part with for the right DB.
Please email me at imsuperpoor@aol.com as my PM box is full until I reup my supporting membership. Or you can post in this thread!:D
Basses up on the block?
2003 62 RI Jazz bass in sunburst. This is a Japanese one and is in excellent shape. Currently strung with Roto flats. Was recently professionally set up. Its a great sounding bass, and plays very fine. My main fretted jazz isn't as good as this (Classic 70s Jazz) but I'm keeping the Classic for sentimental reasons. The only other Jazz I have left really after this is my Jaco, which I'll be buried with. :)
2003 (or was it 2006?) MIA Fender P-bass. The body has been stripped to the poly undercoat, to reveal some nice alder grain underneath. I replaced the neck with a fretless Jazz neck I got from Mike Dolan. Super skinny and super comfortable. Ebony board. Minor wear on the board. The pickguard has been swapped with red tort. Looks killer. The bass still has the Greasebucket tone circuit. I never saw a reason to change it, because while it sounds like crap on a fretted, its actually pretty useful on a fretless. I swapped out the original pickup awhile ago. Its gone through Lindy Fralin, Bill Lawrence, and a Jason Lollar pickups at different points in the 2 years I've had it.
Its currently sporting MIA P-Bass pickups. I don't know what model they're from, but it sounds pretty damn good. There is a Fender decal on the headstock. I planned on replacing it with an actual Fender P-bass decal, but never got around to it. I have the decal... just haven't done it, ya know?
Sage Set Neck 4. 35" scale, custom Barts, Demeter Preamp, hipshot hardware, and fancy woods I can't pronounce. You can see the bass on their website. It was their bass for the 06 NAMM and its probably my nicest actual bass. I love this bass, and they way it plays and sounds. However, it doesn't fit most of the music I play even though it does a lot of tones, and I'm too 'careful' with the bass if that makes sense. It retails for about 4 grand new and I've never had a bass that cost that much so I'm worried about destroying it. The 35" scale tends to mess up my playing in the higher registers as I don't look when I play and I tend to under or overshoot as I've been playing P-basses my whole life. Since this isn't a P-bass with flats and I haven't tried the bass with flats this bass is up on the block as well.
2008 American Standard P-bass. This is my third one and arguably the best one. I don't really wanna get rid of it, as its my main gigger for when I need a P-bass with rounds. There is one chip on the side of the body on the treble horn. Couple of dings and scratches too, but nothing major. This bass has been gigged a lot, and for good reason. Its an amazing P-bass.
The other basses in my profile are either sentimental to me (like my 71 P, 82 P, Ric, and T-Bird) but if you see something you really like and need to have it, maybe we can work something out.
