Ry Cooder And The Moula Banda Rhythm Aces is a feature-length concert film, shot in 16 mm with three cameras in Santa Cruz, Ca. at the Catalyst in 1987 or '88, featuring musicians gathered for a brief tour at the time, including Flaco Jimenez, Jim keltner and Van Dyke Parks. It was made for broadcast in Europe and Asia, but for reasons unknown to the film maker, Mr. Cooder prefers that the film not be shown in North America.

Maybe because not too many people really know who he is. He get's plenty of love around my house and has for 30 years or more. That is a totally amazing vid clip. I'd love to have a copy of that concert. It'll be fun checking out those other vid clips that are on the sidebar. He Da Man....fer sure. )=(

That IS a perfect description of Ry's music in general, IMHO.
He truly is a master at that kind of music. Don't get no better.

I've just recently started listening to his music, and I fell in love. I've mostly heard some of his latest material, Chavez Ravine, I, flathead as well as some of his older stuff.
What I think is totally amazing about him is the way he seems to connect to different musicians and styles, learning from each of them and adding to his wn style.
