A former student of mine is selling his 1930's K. Hofner bass.
It's a 3-ply laminate bass. Standard 3/4 dimensions. 42" string length. Rather dark finish. Ebony fingerboard. Adjustable bridge. The setup is quite well done. The back and sides has a rather beautiful, matched tiger maple grain. The finish is very nice considering it's almost 80 years old. All edges are smooth with no peeling ply's.
It's presently strung with D'Addario Helicore strings and there is a spare unused set in the case pocket. Also included is a Brazilwood French bow (it could use a rehair, though).
The bass has a nice thump on the bottom of the note when pizz'ed. The fundamental of the note is quite strong. It sounds nice arco as well. Definitely one of the better plywood basses I've played.
This would make a really good jazz/country/bluegrass, etc. type bass.
$1800 Cdn
PM and I'll have the seller contact you.
Thanks
