For sale or trade: American Standard Upright Bass circa 1948 in excellent condition. The ebony fingerboard, bridge and endpin are brand new. The fingerboard has an extended nut in order to shorten the string length to 42”. It is reversible if you’d prefer the full 43” string length. All of this work was done at the Gage workshop in NYC. There was a repair done at the heel of the neck by a previous owner. I’ve included close-ups of the area to show how well the work was done. The neck is on straight and the bass plays very nicely. There is some wear to the finish along the edges. It’s minor and could be touched up if someone chose to. This instrument does not need any work. This is an outstanding example of a well-preserved American Standard Bass. The bass is located in northeast New Jersey $4500.00

As far as a trade goes: Any trade would be plus or minus cash depending on the value of the instrument being bartered. I’m looking for a fully carved bass, 41 ½ to 42” string length with a darker tonal quality. PM or contact Paul at pkivory@aol.com .

What's the serial number on this bass? It should be located inside on a label and if the label is missing, most of the time it will be written in pencil on the back interior.

Mike - The label is intact. The serial # is 1674 (or possibly 1679)
