OK, I combed through the archives and couldn't find a thread like this, so just let me know if it's been done before.
Here's the situation: you're going to be marooned on a desert island for some reason (what the heck is a "desert island" anyway??) You have a boom box with batteries that will never go dead. You're allowed 5 CDs.. that's it. For the rest of your days. What do you bring?
I would take:
1) The Minutemen, "Double Nickels on the Dime"
2) Rush, "Hemispheres"
3) Bill Evans Trio, "Sunday at the Village Vanguard"
4) Green Day, "1039 Smoothed Out Slappy Hours"
5) Led Zeppelin, "Physical Graffiti"

Sean.. right on with Celtic Frost!! Damn, I forgot about them. I'm surprised no one named their cover of "Mexican Radio" in that "favorite covers" thread. What a trip.

I'm not even sure that all of these are on CD, but if I had to go in a hurry, without thinking about it.....

The Beatles - 1962-1966
King Crimson - Lark's Tongue in Aspic
Sharks - First Water
Ian Hunter - Ian Hunter
Hughes/Thrall - Hughes/Thrall

But, being in a hurry, these might accidentally fall in the bag....

Pink Floyd - Dark Side of the Moon
Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile
Blur - Blur
Moby - Play
Enigma - Le Roi Est Mort, Vive Le Roi!

However while thinking of this, I know of others:

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Smashing Pumpkins - The Aeroplane Flies High
(That is probably cheating because it's five CDs :))
Baz Luhrmann - Something for Everybody
Radiohead - OK Computer
Depeche Mode - The Singles 86>98
Blur - 13

[Shoot], maybe I should just bring my entire CD collection. Except how in the [heck] to do transport it to an island.

Derek Power

P.S. My CD collection will probably deny me a million dollars and some new friends (if I was on Survivor! :))

If we´d all go to the same island with 5 cd´s each then we could just borrow from each and other.. :D

5 cd´s?? that´s hard!

I´d just take a boom box that can play mp3 cd´s and take 5 cd´s overflown with mp3´s... :) (I´m not breaking rules, am I?) :)
