Up for sale is a beautiful Andreas Morelli Bass built in the 1910s. Wide-grain two piece spruce top. Highly flamed (gorgeous!) two piece maple back with ribs and neck to match. The neck feels absolutely amazing, as does the fingerboard, thanks to a great dressing by Jeff Bolbach a few years ago.

The tone is round and warm—very much a “classic” jazz sort of sound in my experience with it. My bowing experience with this bass is limited, but this is a very high quality instrument worth consideration by serious classical players as well. Ebony trimmed. Opaque brownish orange color shaded over a golden ground color.

Measurements and pictures are of course available. This bass was appraised within the past 12 months (as of 9/16/09) for $24,000. Asking $20,000. Please be in touch if interested! Happy hunting.
