Should I use an old somewhat worn out phillips screwdriver to try to put straplocks on my new Jaguar bass, or drive 5 blocks to my girls house and borrow her drill. I'd have to get dressed to do the latter, the former I can do in my underwear.

Fixed. It was a typo.

Did you use the 20% off code?

Drive, but dont use a drill. Chances of screwing (pun intended) something up increases significantly with power tools.

I put my pants on.

Last time I used the old screwdriver the screw got stripped and I had to take my stingray to the hospital. No time for that today. I'm back, and even got the same parking spot. In B'klyn NY that's what we call a miracle.

PS. The 20% thing made me laugh, and then I realized you were talking about the bass. Yes, and no. Didn't know about the code, but offered them $100 less and they said, "we can do that." :) I would have saved another $20 if I knew about the code. Oh whell. I"m happy. The bass kicks freaking butt bigtime. That was a big PS.

First thing to do is throw out the screwdriver. Never use one in that shape for anything other than punching holes.

Second, pre-drill holes for strap locks if you don't want to take a chance on splitting the body!

Yay! Case closed?

Should I use an old somewhat worn out phillips screwdriver...

IME worn out phillips screwdrivers are good for two things:
1) punching 1/4" holes in sheetrock
2) lending to people you don't like

You're in the city. Surely there's a hardware store nearby, where you could purchase a shiny, new screwdriver? I'm totally perplexed.

+1
Avoid the dollar-wise penny-dumb mistake and get the driver that fits the screw properly. One "Oh Crap!" wipes out 10 "atta-boys". :)

P.S. Any activity using hand or power tools should probably be done while wearing pants - PROTECT THE CYCLOPS AT ALL TIMES!

I was in my underwear.

As you eventually decided, that's not enough reason to damage an instrument.

I hope you've thrown out the screwdriver. Get a replacement with a carbide/hardened tip if possible - and get rid of any other worn-out screwdrivers and replace them while you're at it!

Any excuse to buy tools is a good excuse. :smug:

You've got your tools and basses mixed up.

Naw, that's not an either-or; it's BOTH!
