Hello Friends

I have an original 1966 Fender precision bass which is missing the ash-tray over-the-string pickup cover.

The ones from All Parts and from Fender are both 4 and 3/4" wide (from screw hole to screw hole) but the actual measure on my bass is about 4 and 1/4". Thus, the aftermarket replacements are too wide.

Anyone know where I can get the correct part?

I'd be interested in a thumb rest too.

Fortunately I have the bridge cover, but it's missing the foam mute.

Thanks!

Be patient and be ready to pay. You'll also have to ask the seller to take measurements.

Incidentally, when those covers are installed the distance between the screw holes will differ a bit depending on whether the installer was pushing down on the cover and by doing so, spread it out a bit. A bridge cover wouldn't spring 1/2", but a pickup cover just might. They're pretty flexible.

OTOH, you can also squeeze those covers together...making the mounting holes closer together. I'm thinking you might want to go ahead, get one of the new ones and squeeze it a bit. Might fit just fine!!
