Hi guys, I'm looking to get an upright and would like to spend no more than $1200. I live in Asheville, NC and haven't had any luck through Craigslist or other local avenues. If anyone has a decent bass for sale within 150 miles of here, I'd love to know. A used Shen SB-80, UB Standard, or something along those lines would be fantastic. Thanks for the help.

Don't know if you are willing to look in Ohio but check out the Bass Cellar in Cincinnati http://www.basscellar.com/#inventoryloaded. They have a used SB80 listed for $1,000 which they say is "mint". I spoke with them while looking for my son, but we needed a 1/2 size. Good luck.

$1200 may be a little light, old plywoods are kinda at a premium in your neck of the woods. Have you checked in with James Condino?

Suggested modus operandi is to tell absolutley everyone you run into or speak with that you're looking for a bass, I got my first Kay because somebody I told told somebody who told somebody who had one sitting in an attic without a bridge and soundpost. Got it for $650.
