If you can't find anything used, check out the Nikon d-40. You can get one new for under $450 and they are a great introduction to the world of dSLRs.

Thanks Yem - any idea how it compares to a Rebel XS? 6 MP vs. 10 MP. Anymore I wonder if that really matters, LOL.
