+1 Petere Cetera, who outside of Paul McCartney ( and I'm being polite ) is the most talented singer of the bunch and was an incredibly creative bass player.

Don't forget
Jack Bruce
Larry Graham

Brian Wilson to a lesser extent as a bass player
and Jermaine Jackson...

ELEVEN posts, including one that say "Yep, that's all of them" (sorry, Jimmy) before JACK BRUCE is listed? The only one on the lists that actually SINGS like a monster while playing independent lines like a monster?!

McCartney, Cetera, and Danko 's a great singer, but their bass playing while actually singing, goes on remote control and doesn't have quite the same bounce or drive. Listening to live recordings, it seems like Jack has two separate brains. One is connected to his voice, and another is connected to his bass. Singing expressively while simultaneously playing in his improvisational style is awesome...

+1 on Jack Bruce, Peter Cetera and Greg Lake...

In Modern Jazz, I'd have to add Avishai Cohen who of late has taken an increasing shot at vocals personally. (Better bass player...)

McCartney is more audibly present in the latest Beatles remastering....his bass playing is stronger than I used to recall, for all his great singing.

+1. If he's not the omega, he's gotta be the alpha.

I'll add Chris Murphy of Sloan and Mark King to the list. Honorable mention to Brian Wilson.

I was listening to a fav song from the 80's when it occurred to me "Holy Crap!" great bass player and one of the best singer/bass players front men from that time.

Tony Lewis - The Outfield
