wheres a good place to go to get a nice beautiful piece of cocobolo for a top/tone wood?

does it make sense to have pieces of cocobolo sandwiching a slab of body wood, say walnut or ash or maple or something? what would sound the best?

thanks in advance-

If you don't have a local woodyard that stocks cocobolo, then try Gallery Hardwoods. Larry Davis is great to work with.

As for it making sense to make a sandwich and what sounds the best, some well-respected luthiers do make sandwich-style bodies, and opinions tend differ on what woods (and how they are arranged) sound the "best".

the weight usually makes people go the sandwich route to lessen the strain on the shoulder..solid cocobolo is heavy..
and he's right..there is no such thing as best ...there is just different
