bassmonkeee 09-17-2000, 11:07 AM Ah, Live at the Village Vanguard. What a great disc. I really wish that they would put the extra takes at the END of the disc, though. I love the tunes, but I would prefer to hear the album the way it was released, and then hear the extra tracks after that. But, I will never tire of this disc, and I guess I really can't complain about more of Scott LaFaro's playing...
Wil Davis 09-17-2000, 10:09 PM er, um -

No 'real' bass lines. I've been playing along with it on bass to buff up on dance grooves against the background of blank canvas that is in dire need of a funky bass line.

except one I can't find--grrr! has anyone been able to find the 1960 Birdland Sessions?
Mark;
I've been looking for the 1960 Birdland Sessions CD for a REALLY long time! A dealer in Australia assured me he could find it used but he finally gave up. I now have an open 'back order' pending with a place in Europe that will send a new or used copy if and when one turns up. I kind of hope the fact that it cannot be found means that it is being acquired, remixed and repackaged like the recent Getting Sentimental BE3 recording with Michael Moore so we can all hear it. If I do get it before the hypothetical 'then' I will definitely post here about it.
BTW now listening to 'It Just So Happens" Bill Frisell/Gary Peacock Duo
Peacock's solo version of Red River Valley is wonderful!

1smileymn 08-23-2007, 08:14 AM I actually found that in an IAJE bin last winter in NY, along with another rare album with Scott Lafaro and Steve Kuhn(I think). It's surprisingly great recording quality, and is a wonderful album! I'm still very much stuck on Arrival of victor feldman and Ornette! right now...gotta pull the 1960s birdland back out.
