i glued up my 5 piece (maple, ph, maple, ph, maple)
neck blank last week. would any of you be so kind as to recommend how long i should let it sit before i start cutting?

20,000 years? (old wood theory...) :D
actually, i bet that you can start cutting as soon as the glue is dry... I know that some luthiers start shaping, then stop and wait a day or two (to let the newly exposed wood acclimatize) then continue a bit- then pause, then continue.. etc etc etc
i guess it depends on yer climate control in yer shop, and how dry the wood was to begin with....

Some people wait a week or so because Titebond introduces moisture into the laminates. I do that now, but I can afford to do that because I generally have 3-4 other projects to work on while I let the neck sit. I have made good basses without waiting more than a day or two back in the olden days when I was [more] impatient.
