neptoon 11-13-2002, 06:56 PM oh there are lots o' bassists in your area. a lot of them post on here quite frequently...you're in the middle of an assa talent. don't let them intimidate you....they're all great guys. and oh yeah, jt's mullet doesn't bite...i don't think :D
Lisa Weiss 11-15-2002, 09:34 AM I live in Gwinnett county. I know at least one other member who lives in this area too. If nothing else, you ought to come to the next get together. We have them about once a quarter. I think there are around 25 of us in the Atlanta Metro area.

bassmonkeee 11-15-2002, 09:59 AM If I had seen this yesterday, I would have mentioned my gig last night in Decatur.
I'm in L5P, and Dave Siff lives nearby, too. Granted, he's in Italy right now, but they'll be kicking him out soon, I'm sure....
john turner 11-15-2002, 10:17 AM hey, yeah, we have a bunch of greater-atlantans around here. welcome :)

Hey, JT-- We need to hook up soon and futz with my new V-Bass. :D
Perhaps a TalkBass dinner is in order before the holidays get everyone too busy to see straight for the rest of the year.
JohnL 11-15-2002, 01:04 PM Sorry, just saw the post! Welcome to the area. I'm over in Grayson. (go south from Buford until you smell it, then left until you step in it) Hope to see you at the next get-together!

Hambone 11-22-2002, 12:05 PM I guess that I'm the sole rep for Centerville here. And don't let the hyper here get to ya - these guys are just a bunch of untalented ham-n-eggers!
No wait!, That's ME (untalented, ham-n-egger). The rest of the guys (and girls) all have actual gigs.

john turner 11-26-2002, 12:31 PM how's about the first weekend of december (1 week after thanksgiving) we have an atlanta bassists get together for a pre-christmas dinner. there's a really great brazillian steakhouse up roswell road, like fogo de chiao, but 1/2 the price, called carro de boi. all you can scarf meats of all kinds for ~$20 a plate.
Jon Burnet 11-26-2002, 12:32 PM fridays better than saturday for me!

Me, too. EarthLink's Holiday party is on the 7th, so it'd have to be Friday for me, too. Of course, I'll have to run it past the lady before I can commit to anything.
peteroberts 11-26-2002, 12:41 PM either is good for me. I'm sorry I missed the last get-together!
hindsight, to answer your question, depends on what you want to see. My favorite places regardless of musical genre are: Variety Playhouse (I can walk), Fox Theatre, Spivey Hall, Churchill Grounds, Smith's Olde Bar, Tabernacle. I have not played any of those except Smiths, and the VP, but all are good to go check out a show.
check the creative loafing I think it's

Dave Siff 11-26-2002, 12:45 PM A week from Friday sounds fine to me.. gotta check with the wife.
Hindsight, welcome to talkbass, glad to see another Atlanta-area guy on the board. Look forward to meeting you at the next shindig.
john turner 11-26-2002, 02:25 PM cool, next friday night it is, then (december 6). does that restaurant sound good - we can try anywhere, really, but barbara and i went there last week and were pretty blown away.
muggsy 11-27-2002, 10:21 AM I'd love to join you guys for dinner but I'm gonna be out of town that weekend. You should talk about scheduling another Atlanta bass-fest for early next year. Have fun.

Sorry, I haven't been posting in the thread, but I'm still up for dinner on Friday. Assuming, of course, that Ice Storm '02 doesn't have us all trapped under .000004" of ice. :D Doesn't take much to freak GA out weather-wise.
I will be flying solo since Liegia is going to use the time that I'm out to work on law school applications.
bassmonkeee 12-04-2002, 04:25 PM Hey, Stingrayman--
Any chance of you bringing the movies from the get together on a cd for me? I think I have a friend who has 400 mb of space free on his server to host them for those brave enough to download them. For a couple of weeks, at least.
bassmonkeee 12-05-2002, 01:37 PM What's the plan, Stan? Where we gonna meet up? Siff and I will probably drive together in my Liberal-Mobile ;).
Jon Burnet 12-05-2002, 02:25 PM ok sorry the boss has been here all day and this is the first i have sat down. My boy Dan and i will leave nash vegas at about 10:30. i guess we will head to JT's or guitar shopping until JT is available. Do you still have my cell number JT? if not i will send it to you in PM. monkee i will try to find the disks when i get home today and bring it with me.
bassmonkeee 12-06-2002, 10:24 AM Um...Guys?
It's Friday. Are we doing this thing, or not?
Still not sure where or when we are meeting, or even what the name of the restaurant is.
I mean, I'll be perfectly content going to dinner with Dave to discuss all things bass, but I see him enough as it is, and people will talk. ;)
JT--Get your mullet out of your behind, and give up some details, Scooter.
That oughta get his attention.....:D
john turner 12-06-2002, 03:57 PM oops. sorry bout that. yeah, this is still on. carro de boi on roswell road, about 4 or 5 miles north of 285, on the left (west) side. when do you want to meet?
