VIEW FULL LIVE VERSION : Learn the fretboard
bassbuddie 01-08-2003, 12:36 PM Found this interesting game on Internet. A game that helps yuo memorize the fretboard while you are having fun.
It's only for guitar right now. But I think it can be useful anyway. I am waiting for a bass version.

LoJoe 01-08-2003, 01:21 PM It may not be fun, but there is already a version for bass over on basstabs.net right here:

fclefgeoff 01-08-2003, 01:29 PM Here is something similar. CHECK IT OUT (http://courses.wcupa.edu/frichmon/usetech/musicalflashcards/bcnotes.html)
bassbuddie 01-08-2003, 01:44 PM Thanks for the link (reading).
LoJoe 01-08-2003, 01:52 PM Geoff,
That link is great. I've got the fretboard nailed, but am getting ready to work on learning to sight read. Nice! Thanks!
Jonathan Starr 01-08-2003, 02:04 PM Good stuff. Anyone see a 5 or 6 string trainer around ?
It would be cool to combine the two, perhaps read the note off the staff and click it on the fretboard.
Aloha,
Jonathan
fclefgeoff 01-08-2003, 02:23 PM I have found it to be very beneficial.
bassbuddie 01-08-2003, 08:18 PM If you play guitar, you will like the Chord Warrior version.

no seriously if i can get something to work by making my own i will most definitly post it in a forum for everyone to download.
bassbuddie 02-05-2003, 02:04 PM By the time you copy a good idea, I will learn the fretboard and respect the author.

Thanks, Geoff! That is a valuable tool that I am putting in my Favorites.:)
fclefgeoff 02-06-2003, 12:50 PM No problem, buddy!
mickeyw3340 02-06-2003, 01:05 PM Why would I want to pay $15.00 for something on the computer that I've got to be at my computer to use, when I could be spending that time playing the notes and learning the bass clef on my axe? Wait, then I could do it at work. Allright!!!!

HeavyDuty 02-18-2003, 07:59 PM Off to GI...
Infernal Affair 02-19-2003, 12:25 AM Thanks for the links guys. I'm finding these to be very helpful.
And while I could just be learning the notes while playing, there's just something about the interactivity aspect that seems to make me learn faster rather than having to have a printout next to me while I play. It's like how flashcards are so successful. You don't have to spend as much time thinking looking up the answer.
In fact, I was thinking of just making flashcards of various chords and keys that I have problems remembering so that way they get more solidified in my head, and I won't have to think about them as much.
I think the next step after learning the fretboard and clef is ear training, don't you think?
bassbuddie 02-19-2003, 01:44 PM You are right. A good ear treaning exercise is to sign the notes that you play. Siging "connects" the ear and the bass.
eVersi0n 02-20-2003, 12:40 PM I learned the fretboard by making and using this, simple little thing.

bassbuddie 02-23-2003, 09:30 AM Really Interesting eVersi0n.
Thank you.
