i have a fender j bass and about 3-4 months ago i fitted a badass 2,, now i thought i had reached a good set up with the strings i had on,, rotosound swing bass 66's ,, but recently i changed to elite stadiums, standard gauge,, now my set up feels crap and it doesn't make me want to play,, can anyone help me reach a decent setup,, by the way,, i play a varying amount of styles,, pop slap, jazz, rock, etc i have a medium touch , not too rough and i hardly ever use a pick,,

if this sounds familiar could u share some of your knowledge,, i don't need to know how to do it just the measurements etc

cheers

Whoops! Wrong forum, Ty. This is the double bass side.

If you'll hurry you can delete this post. Just cut and paste it up to setup on the BG side.

Be careful down here. You are in uncharted waters down here. Bass guitarists have been known to stray down here and never be heard from again. RUN, RUN, run for your life.:)

Shhhh... I'm a double bassist who also plays (gasp) electric:

Fender actually has a page on setups, with instructions:
http://www.fender.com//mrgearhead/faq/basssetup.html
and this is another good one:
http://rob.genesis-microchip.com/setups.htm

My best advice is to be patient, make tiny, gentle tweaks to the truss rod if needed, and let the neck settle in when you do.
