I know that string height is a feel oriented thing as opposed to a mathematical exact number, but what are most people using for basses? What is a good height for each string (especially a low B) to get a really vibrant sound and comfortable action. I've been practicing carving new nuts and am ready to take the plundge into a new bone nut for an old bass.

Any and all help is more than appreciated!

Cosmicevan,
I usually start at .020" using a feeler gauge to measure the height from the bottom of the string to the top of the first fret. Finished I usually end up around .012" to .016"... Be sure to take a little at a time to ensure you don't cut the slots to deep.
Feel free to email me if you have any other questions...
