Hey guys, I've got a pretty unique Status S1 classic with an exotic topwood. Two soapbar Status humbuckers, a two band preamp. This bass plays like butter and when I'm playing solo it sounds really good. Thing is when our band comes together my bass sounds too 'nasal' and lacking in the 'balls' departement. The neck pup as well as the bridge pup sound incredible when soloying, but they get lost in the mix. I've tried just about every setting there is on my PF500 (through a Tecamp L810), but to no avail. Strange thing is that my traded off P bass sounded better in the band, but I wanted a bigger sound, so I traded it for this Status bass (a one of a kind deal!). I'm reluctant to sell off the Status as she is in every way great, except in my band's sound. So what to do??

Today I took delivery of the 63 Precision, and 64 Jazz. I've been hearing on here of peeps selling theirs, but I can't see why. These are great player basses. The pickups are well balanced, finish and hardware are top notch. I appreciate the foam installed under the bridge cover or each bass, I do wish the the necks had more of a satin finish ala Music Man or Lakland. But they never felt sticky or grabby on slides. Overall, I appreciate these throwbacks for when I don't want to take out my real early 60's and 70's Fenders. Here's a pic of the '63 p-bass Attachment 339464

I recently bought an Ampeg 810AV. I got it for a steal but the bottom corners of the cab are ate up and the tolex has a few more tears in it. The cab, for being relatively new, looks like it has about a tour or two under its belt and I want to take it back to looking brand new...with a twist. I want to retolex it in orange tolex a lot like an orange cab and then put cane grill cloth in it.

Curious as to where I can get the materials for a good price AND instead of paying 60 plus dollars on tolex glue if there is a cheaper alternative? Any help would be greatly appreciated since I have never retolexed anything in my life.

I'm hoping to move to a mic setup and I'd like something with a decent mic preamp. I've had great pizz results with a ShuttleMax 9.2 and Fishman Full Circle, but I'm starting to use the bow live in several folk/Americana/acoustic bands. I much prefer the sound of arco from a mic to that of a pickup. The Focus seems perfect, but only if I can get it for a fair price.

Hi, I've been playing bass about 10 months now. I would say that I'm pretty good to the average listener. Anyways, for the past two days I've been feeling like my dexterity and over all left and right hand cordination hasn't been as good as it usually is. It's not any lack of practice, in fact, I have been building and burning callouses for a bit now. I play a lot, in fact, I'm wondering if maybe it is healthy to take a break from playing? I just feel like my fingers are locked up and I do scales, but when I try to play fast it's like they go retarded. My question is if it's normal for some days to be better than others? I would hate for myself to feel like I am getting worst! Thanks for future feedback. :hiding:
