just kidding

i just got a sweet upright for 34 dollars from the guy down the street from me, i put electric bass strings on it and it sounds so rock and roll. i learned how to play i fought the law and american idiot by green day on it. my bass is better than all of yours

To keep the cost down, I think that he used baling wire tied on to the free end of the electric string to get the string length from 34" up to 42". Some other players have used baling twine for more of a gut-string-like tone and response. Your results may vary.

It's been planed down so much that the plastic binding fret markers and the plastic fret markers are nearly worn completely through. The headstock had those darn sideways tuning gears set down into the box shaped part of it, so he had to cut through the back of the headstock to make restringing with the baling wire ends easier.
