| Same Question I realize you posted the initial question over 2 years ago, so I have my doubts that you'll come across this, but I have been wondering the same thing. I recently bought a Vitali double bass (not sure what size--I'm new to this), and have been curious to find out more about the manufacturer.
According to the people I bought the bass from, mine was made around the 1950s/60s. It is plywood which, what I gather from my limited knowledge of these instruments, means it's probably nothing special, but I really enjoy playing it.
I have attached a couple of pictures: a front view of the bass and the label which says "Vitali" "Made in Germany" and "Anno" (which I am guessing means year, but I can't see anything written there). Sorry it's kind of out of focus--that's the best of my 10ish attempts!
If anyone can tell me more about this instrument or point me in the right direction to find out for myself, I would truly appreciate it. I always feel more connected with an instrument if I know a bit of its history. I can also take pictures from different views or of different parts if that will help.
Cheers! |
