19?? King Bass, Serial # Location **Help**

I Just picked up this King upright over the weekend. I can't find the serial number. It is very used but sounds great. I hope I did OK here.

Does anyone know where the serial number is? The label is on the inside but no #. The edging is worn but it is solid.

What are these worth?

Thanks for any help ypu can give.
Mike

The label (with serial) inside the bass could look like this. The numbering may be faded...

Serial numbers on a King are on the interior paper label.

Sometimes the number is also written in pencil on the interior back of the bass as well.

Their serial numbers are not die stamped on the bass (Epiphone’s are die stamped). As far as the value…what did you pay for it? Values fluctuate wildly based on condition, playability, tone and region.

King’s are great basses…enjoy!

Thanks for the info folks. I am on the road and can't look at the bass right now, I will examine it when I get home next week.

MollyKay- It plays great and is in OK condition, actually pretty good for the age. I'm in Montana, not exactly a bass haven so I gave 800 for it with fresh strings, recent setup, new bridge, doweled neck and a fishman pup. What do you think? From what I understand the Blond is fairly rare.

Thanks, Mike

No matter where your location is you did excellent if it is a good sounding and playing bass. Recently a dealer in VA sold a 1950’s blonde King Mortone for $4900. The bass was super clean; in that region of the country there is lots of music so basses sell for a premium.

Enjoy the bass and play it in good health. You got a steal of a deal.
