5/8 knilling upright

I'm buying my first upright and I've found what appears to a late 50s early 60s 5/8 knilling upright. It's plywood and was made in germany. It has a good sound compared to the cheapo chinese bass that I am borrowing from a friend, it also plays better. I play rock, folk, bluegrass and would like to use it in my piano jazz trio. I would use an amp. I can see were a small plywood bass would have advantages (feedback, transportation), but am I going to outgrow this in a year and be sorry. I think I can buy it for around $700.
Thanks

Thumbs up

If I was planning to use an amp all the time, I wouldn't hesitate to buy a 5/8 bass that sounds good and plays well at that price as long as it had a solid neck joint and no other major structural issues. IME it's tough to find a bass that sounds good, plays well and isn't falling apart for under 1k.
