5 String Kay Double Bass model S-51 question

I just visited a friend of the family. He has owned a 3/4 S-51
Five String Kay Double Bass since 1965. It was bought in Grand Rapids, MI. It is serial number 6675. We checked on the internet and it appears to be made about 1940.

The neck had kind of pulled apart from the body living a gap, one string broke, the others old, you know the scenario. If repaired I'd say it would be considered to be in pretty good condition for the most part.

It is not for sale. However for the sake if this discussion does anyone on the forum know about what the percentage of Kay Basses were the 5 String S-51 Model? As I recall this is the first and only one that I have ever seen.

Please respond.
