| I used to have one of the old Framus 3/4 basses with a cutaway in the upper treble bout. Cherry red, plastic binding around the outside edges of the top, back, and f holes. It played and sounded about like a Kay. The neck joint failed and flew off in the middle of the second set during a gig. I believe it is still making the rounds near Portland, Oregon these days.
Having played with that cutaway for several years, it was part of the reason I included it in the bass I built last year.
