50's songs and DB

Rock songs with DB, I stumbled on a store CD with early rock songs + DB! I'm new to electric bass, it's an education.

There's 50's songs WITH DB on my new store-bought CD, a compilation, Rock 'N Roll Classics - 3 CD's. Includes lots of artists: Fats Domino, Bill Haley & The Comets, Chuck Berry, Richard Berry & The Pharaohs, a nice tool and listening...

Yup. Glad your ears are broadening (in the metaphorical, not physical sense, of course).

Electric instruments are not equivalent to rock and roll. That's just how the mass-market instrument manufacturers like to present it. As I recall, some guy named Elvis Presley did pretty well in that whole Rock territory, armed with an acoustic guitar and backed up by Bill Black on the bass. (Of course, Scotty Moore's hollow-body electric was part of the sound too, but just part).

Check out this link. It's a rare video of Elvis' first live performance.

All the early Rock n Roll and Rockabilly had double bass, mostly slapped too.
