AES Standard Cleveland and Bowing

What's the bowing like on the D string above the octave, say up to G?
My Shen 7/8ths Willow seems to give out a bit. I don't blame it cause it sounds so good throughout the "bass" range but it would sure be incentive if the Cleveland produced a strong resonant tone up there.

Please include whether you have the ply or the hybrid.

Thanks,
Dave

Do you mean the AES Cleveland? Or has Arnold produced another model?

Not sure how keen my ears are but my Cleve bows just great - with brand new spiro's no less. Only 3 weeks old. Arco is best on the G & D strings.

Now I sorta regret requesting a pizz only setup. Ah well.

Hard to imagine a ply cleveland beating a carved willow arco. I think the G sounds great under the bow all the way up. The low E is typical ply sounding but decent all the same.

I played Dono's carved cleveland and arco was as you'd expect relative to a ply. I think I liked the pizz on my ply better than the carved in some ways because it was faster and punchier. Didn't have the stones down low like the carved one.

Thanks for the publicity guys, but I believe you are referring to the New Standard Cleveland, not the AES Standard nor the AES Cleveland. I am one of the partners in the venture (with Wil deSola), not the sole owner.
