Indeed. The assymetrical lower bout is supposed to help low end response.

Now, add a C extension to that bass -- no -- better yet, re-do the tuning machine box with the extension integrated so it is a 1+3 arrangement with the usual adjustible stops, and not just an add-on extension, and I'm there.

Oh, and since I'm also a realist at heart and because I have been very happily married to this lovely lady for many years now...

Wait, is this a show your bass thread or a dream bass thread? Sure, modern basses are great but I would rather have an old italien or uncut Prescott with a managable string length!

We've been there and done all this before sans the picture requirement.

LOL, I forgot I started that thread. In hindsight, once you live with and all in love with a bass... I guess you stop looking at others.

Wow! Excellent work, that looks awesome! How long did it take? Did it really end up cheaper to make one? I would think with all of the specialized equipment and what not you have to use it would be a disaster but that is really amazing. Congrats!

...And as for dream bass, I can't upload pics but I think this would do

My Blonde

It took about a year to build including the time to build the mold, 60 spool clamps and various fixtures to hold the plates during carving. I could have bought a real nice ply bass for what I have in materials. It was a great experience. I don't have any specialized equipment and most of the carving of the neck and both plates was done by hand with gouges and finger planes. I build fiddles and it was kinda like making a fiddle, just A LOT more labor intensive. Pals, Vic.

I'll try to keep up the realist theme, but I like to think of her as my dream bass anyway!

Sorry for the crappy cell phone pic.

My problem is that my bass is better than me.

My dream is about more playing and practicing time; a better/different bass is besides the point. My current bass, frankly, is great.

Here's a link to my bass' pictures/thread:

The bass I bought

Here are a couple of amazing basses I eyeball when I want to see something cool. If I had 'em though, I wouldn't be any better off though, IMHO. I still wouldn't play any better...
