American Standard Website

Hey AS fans-

I have just been talking to Kip Martin about the AS site not being up, and now it's back. It's currently in it's same format but will soon have 400 more basses! There is also a new address, so change your bookmarks to: http://www.planetkip.com/

I'm anxious to see the new additions and I know you'll enjoy it too.

Ike

Ike,

Thanks for posting this info. I just left Kip a message telling him thanks for making the site active again and offering my help with maintaining it.

Thanks Ike & Mike! (Dah…there is a pun)

I was concerned this valuable information was lost forever. I know Kip’s accident and the expiration of website domain name happened at about the same time (late November). I have the utmost respect for his efforts with the website. Kip and Roger Stowers have provided valuable history and information for vintage plywood bass junkies like me.

Great News!

Cool site. I have always been drawn towards the look and mojo, if you will, of these basses despite never having seen or played one in person. Since the attention of all you vintage plywood junkies is already transfixed here, do ya'll know of any Amercian Standard owners in the pacific northwest. I would love to give it a pull and compare it to my NS Cleveland.

I know Dwight McCartney (regular participant here) has a New Standard. He graciously allowed my son to use it for a couple of day's worth of performing back in 2006.

While there (at Wintergrass in Tacoma) there was another member, here on Talkbass, who owned and played an American Standard. He lived in that region.

Sadly, for the life of me, I can't recall his name. We did briefly meet and talk when I was there in 2006, but I've gotten older and slept several times since then. Maybe he'll see this thread and chime in before too long.

I'm was wondering what had happened to that site. I'm glad to hear that Kip will be updating it too - I've got four more american standards to add to the list.

Nathan, I've got a '49 American Standard and I live just north of Seattle in Mill Creek. If we can find the time I'd love to let our basses have a little meet and greet.
Cheers,
John
