To order a new one? Or to ship a bass you already have like a shipping service?

Ideal Music in NYC ships internationally. When I was there two months ago they had Wilfer laminates, Eberle carved basses and Romanian hybrid and ply basses in stock.

I've seen accounts of New Standards arriving as far afield as New Zealand.

Why overseas? If you're in India and so many basses are made in China now, well the two countries are next to each other, have it shipped direct.

Maybe this guy could help hook you up? He has an email...

A luthier tells us how to make a double-bass. | Nicely Made in China

Best deal would be to get the language barrier dealt with and buy something made in Asia and shipped to you in Asia, without crossing oceans and touching ground in far-flung exotic lands like North America.

This company does not sell completed basses to end users, but maybe they can help you find nearby makers + sellers to contact.

Violin Pegs - Violin Chin Rests and Violin Parts Manufacturer and Exporter | Avogi Musicals India, Kolkata

Perhaps go through this list and contact each manufacturer via email and see who responds..

double bass Made in china & india - double bass Exporters & Factories

Or if you see an instrument that's made in China but sold via some USA based retailer, ask the Retailer what deals can be had if the instrument is drop-shipped from the manufacturer to your house. Intuitively, it should be less expensive than the price offered to a USA store walk-in client.

Good luck.

I live in south Africa and the shipping charges from the USA are very heavy. try from Europe it is a bit closer and it might save you a bundle. speak to jonas at Lando music in Frankfurt he was very helpfully with my purchase.

I know this is a late reply, but my Maggini is an amazing bass. It blows every other bass in its price range that I have played out of the water. It has a dark, powerfully loud tone that is quite refined at the same time. I played a few good Fendts at Kolstein (including a five string) but, if I had just a bit more, I would look at the French Viullame copy Kolstein has at their shop, and possibly their Cremonese bass. Both are excellent -but still don't reach my Maggini's level imo. They are both worth looking at -although if you need to stay under 9.5 I'd look at other options than the Fendt. Then again, some people absolutely love them.

What's the price on the Maggini? Is it made completely in the USA?

My Maggini is totally made in the US. And the price on the Maggini was a bit above the other two basses that I liked that were not based on a Maggini -a Gabbute Maggini copy was also AMAZING but my Kolstein won out.

EDIT:
The Gabbute was an excellent bass, but it is hard for me to put into words exactly how the Kolstein upped the Gabbute. It was just a "feel" thing, you know?

Thanks. So, uh... I can expect to pay a bit above the price of two other basses you played.

I never asked what you paid. I asked what the price is on the Maggini. I was looking for an answer in US dollars.

I dont follow -the price on one is normally around 20,000 but we got a much better price due to some repairwork that needed to be done
