Any tips for first time buyer????

Hey Everyone im a bass guitarist from north wales i need to buy a double bass soon could anyone give me some advice to me about getting a quality value for money bass. My budget is about 5-£700. I really want to start learning and move to a vertical instument!! Cheers all!

Increase your budget.
Buy from a dealer that can service the bass in the coming years.
Take the bass out "on trial" for a week and get opinions from other professional upright bassists in your area.
Get a teacher.
