thanks for being the bad guy just kidding thats funny because it was purchased at a school auction they had an old king ply bass but i was bidding against another guy and he got that for 1200 so i had to settle for the meisel it plays really well and the sound is pretty big but i think the neck is rosewood wich is kinda dissapointing and im suprised its not warped and yeah the scroll wasnt built well because i can tell there has been repairs just one last question since im new to the upright bass scene what should i keep on my neck ive heard baby oil or mineral oil what do u suggest and thank u for all the help and honest answers

Thumbs down punctuation is your friend...

Geez HarryBowels, you don't take a hint so good do ya ?

When people are putting time and energy into trying to give you the benefit of their experience, the least you could do is start your sentence with a capital letter and end it with a period so what you write is readable.

I believe Tom Gray used a Meisel in the late 70s and 80s with the Seldom Scene.

Looks to me like your Meisel bass came from the Musima factory in the former East Germany. They made plywood basses for Meisel. The plant has been closed since about 1994.
The main way to identify it is the thick piece of trim all around the instrument between the body and the edge of the top.
They are the same as the Eberle basses distributed in the U-S by Ideal Music in NYC......aka bassesonline.
