Anybody ever heard of a Saumer Bass and know what it's worth?

generic title

from what I know, it was made in 1975, wide grain spruce top, curved maple back. The contre-eclisses (don't know the english word) are external. 3/4. German ? Czeck ?

I'd prefer a close photo of the top plate in order to discern the grain, a photo of the ribs in order to look for external linings and a photo of the back in order to see the flame (if existed). Finally a photo of the scroll and the machines wiil complete the whole picture. We have some very experienced friends in the forum and they can help you very much.

Ribs.

There several cracks. The ones on each side of the tail piece and on the rib from the endpin hole have been repaired. This involved undecking.

This bass was bought by the current owner as a student bass, upon advice from her teacher.

I'm interested as I'm considering buying it.

Thanks for the time you take to help me.

Looks like a King to me. Either that or from the Musima factory in Germany? Looks alot like my Eberle except the grain is much nicer.

saumer is a german bassmaker.
a real person, not a trade-brand.
i have played some of them, they are not seldom here.

depending on the sound i would pay 1-2k€

did you show it a luthier/your teacher?

Andrew, the bass luthier at the String Shop of Arizona said that Saumer is from the same family that made Wilfur (German)

Could be coincidence, but that neck joint is a dead ringer for my Eberle (Musima) too.

The bass sold for 2000 €. I didn't buy it, mainly because I know the luthier who repaired the top and I don't trust him.
Sound was nice, even and with a good projection. A bit stiff to play but the setup was far from good.
