Anyone ever play a 50's Framus cutaway?

I played one today. I was quite amazed by it. I was expecting it to sound thinner than a $300 Ebay CCB, but it had a very rich and full sound. And it had a very snazzy original black finish with white trim. It was so good that I almost took it home with me (as my wife just made a very large vanity purchase, I decided I'm entitled to one, too). Then the shop owner told me it was on consignment and the seller wants $5000 for it. Needless to say it's still in the shop. Killer bass. $5000 worth of killer bass when you could buy a New Standard or 3 Uptons? No way!

My framus is not a cutaway model.

It has a very rich, full, and dark sound.
That is very loud bass.
But, It is very difficult to play with 43 inches string lenght.
That why i keep it as my back up and use it for un-amplified gig.
